Visiting
This information shows the normal arrangements for visiting patients on this ward, but temporary restrictions may be in place, so please always first check Coronavirus (COVID-19): Visitor guidance.
Day | Times |
---|---|
Every day | 10.00am-8.00pm |
Meal times
- Lunch: 12.15pm-1.15pm
- Evening meal: 5.15pm-6.15pm
Meal times are protected - allowing time for staff to assist patients who have suffered a stroke to eat safely, and to preserve their dignity.
In the early days following a stroke we encourage the patient to be independent, which can be frustrating as they find ways of adapting.
Feeding is a specialist part of stroke care; we only invite relatives to attend meal times if the patient requires help with feeding, and only if they have a 'safe swallow' following a stroke.
Personal belongings
To help keep you comfortable during your stay, we encourage your relatives to bring in slippers, toiletries etc.
We suggest that you do not bring valuables into hospital.
Please ensure dentures, hearing aids and reading glasses are in suitably named containers.
There are no clothes washing facilities on the ward.
Flowers are not permitted.
Contact
Tel: 01793 604547
Patients, families and their carers have access to a dedicated phone line on each ward for direct communication; the phone can be taken to the patient's bedside - please ask a member of staff for details.
We ask that one member of the family conveys information to other family members, to avoid several calls to the ward.
