The Audiology Department provides comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and management for adults and children with hearing loss and/or tinnitus.
We also provides vestibular assessment and vestibular rehabilitation for patients referred by hospital consultants and is able to make MRI referrals for Vestibular Schwannoma screening if the referral criteria is met.
We are dedicated to improving the patient experience of our services through regular patient forums and patient satisfaction surveys as well as through service improvement projects and technological developments.
Our Department has been awarded national accreditation for its services by the United Kingdom Accreditation Services after external assessors spent three days assessing the department.
They looked at the quality of the services being offered by the department and based their report around four key domains:
- Patient experience
- Clinical provision
- Facilities, resources and workforce
Accreditation was awarded following adherence to 26 standards and 153 supplementary standards that had been identified by the Improving Quality in Physiological Services.
The department also acts as a teaching and training centre for undergraduate and post graduate audiology students.
Our accreditation is limited to those activities described on our UKAS Schedule of Accreditation.
