We are pleased to be the recipient of the goodwill of over 400 individuals, who as hospital volunteers, help us to provide the best care to our patients, their friends and families.
Our volunteers are essential in maintaining the valuable link between our hospital and the community. They not only provide help and support for patients and staff, but feedback comments and ideas on behalf of the public to help improve the services we provide.
Each volunteer brings something special and unique and collectively build a highly efficient team.
Volunteering can help you learn new skills, find out more about healthcare, meet new people, and contribute to the community.
Our volunteers make a difference every day
If you choose to become a hospital volunteer we do ask for a minimum commitment of three hours a week for a period of six months. The time you can devote will greatly contribute to the wellbeing of our patients and can help them gain self-esteem and satisfaction through interaction and creativity.
In turn, your contribution is greatly appreciated and valued by the Trust.
Who can become a volunteer?
We welcome anyone over the age of 16, whatever your background. There is no upper age limit, providing you are reasonably fit.
All volunteers are recruited via a similar process to hospital staff, which includes the need for occupational health screening, Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and attending any necessary training prior to starting in a role.
