Patient-initiated follow-up (PIFU)

On our patient-initiated follow-up pathway you can decide when you need to see your doctor again.

It means you can arrange your follow-up when you need it most. For some, this can mean fewer trips to the hospital.

You may hear us refer to patient-initiated follow-up as PIFU.

Not everyone is offered patient-initiated follow-up, so you may still have regular appointments for other conditions or illnesses.

Requesting an appointment

If you received a letter confirming you are a suitable candidate for our PIFU service, you can request an appointment by calling our outpatient service on 01793 604063.

You will need to ask your GP to re-refer you to the service if you have not requested an appointment within the time specified in your letter (most often within two years).
