A new One Stop Chest Clinic has been launched at the Community Diagnostic Centre in west Swindon, offering patients a faster, more convenient and streamlined diagnostic experience for cancer care.
The service allows patients to attend a single appointment where they receive an echocardiogram, lung function test and a consultant consultation - all in one visit.
Previously, patients would have needed to attend three separate hospital appointments, increasing travel demands, waiting times and overall stress for the patient and their family.
This innovative model has already proven highly successful, with 100% positive patient feedback to date. Patients have particularly highlighted the convenience and ease of attending one consolidated appointment, significantly improving their overall experience.
In addition to enhancing patient convenience, the clinic is expected to support faster referral-to-treatment times for lung cancer, helping to ensure earlier diagnosis and timely care.
The new approach has also enabled clinical teams to increase overall cancer capacity, with additional consultant appointments now available later in the day. This is one of several steps being taken by the Trust to reduce waiting times for people living with cancer.
The One Stop Chest Clinic reflects a strong commitment to delivering patient-centred, high-quality care, while improving efficiency across diagnostic and treatment pathways.
