Brunel Treatment Centre

This is on the same site as the main hospital; it has its own entrance but is also connected via a short internal corridor.

By rail

The nearest railway station is Swindon, which is located in the town centre, 6 km (3.7 miles) from the hospital.

It is a short walk from Swindon Train Station to Swindon Bus Station, from where frequent bus services run to and from the hospital (please see below).

By bus

  • Swindon's Bus Company (formerly Thamesdown Transport)'s bus numbers 1 and 1A travel between West Swindon and the hospital via Swindon town centre alternately every 10 minutes on weekdays (less often at other times).

  • Both of these services call at all of these stops:
    • Outside the main entrance to the Great Western Hospital
    • Outside the main entrance to the Brunel Treatment Centre
    • Near Swindon Intermediate Care Centre (SwICC) (across the road from the pond)

By cycle

The hospital is linked to the extensive Swindon cycle path network.

By road

The hospital is located to the south-east of Swindon town centre, close to Junction 15 of the M4 motorway.

From the M4

  1. Exit at Junction 15 and follow signs towards Swindon.
  2. Take the first exit on the left into Marlborough Road (A4259).
  3. The entrance to the hospital is 300 metres on the left.

From the north

  1. On approaching Swindon, continue on the A419 south (following signs for the M4).
  2. Exit at Commonhead (the hospital is signposted from here).
  3. Take the fourth exit off the roundabout into Marlborough Road (A4259).
  4. The entrance to the hospital is 300 metres on the left.

From the town centre

  1. Leave the town centre via Fleming Way to the Magic Roundabout and travel straight across into Queens Drive (A4259), following signs for the M4.
  2. At the next roundabout (Drakes Way), take the third exit to remain on Queens Drive.
  3. Travel straight ahead at the next roundabout (Coate Water) into Marlborough Road (A4259).
  4. The entrance to the hospital is 1500 metres on the right.

Once on the hospital site, at the first roundabout, take the first exit for the Brunel Treatment Centre and the second exit for the main hospital building.

The Trust operates a Green Transport policy and we encourage visitors and staff to use alternatives to driving wherever possible.
