The Nutrition and Dietetic team provides an acute and community-based service.

We provide professional, evidence-based advice and guidance on your diet in order to improve your health.

Virtually all clinical areas within the Trust are covered by a dietitian who can advise on diet and nutrition appropriate for various conditions at different stages of disease.

The community team works clinically in a variety of settings including:

  • GP clinics
  • Community hospitals
  • Care homes
  • Patients' own homes

We also facilitate:

  • Group education sessions
  • Staff training
  • Health promotion
  • Public health work

Registered Dietitians (RDs) assess and advise on diet and nutrition.

The title 'dietitian' can only be used by those appropriately trained professionals who are registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC).

Staff are also encouraged to be members of the British Dietetic Association (BDA)

The service is committed to teaching and training the public and other health professionals about diet and nutrition, the production of resources to support training and acting as advisors to the Trust on the nutritional standards and specifications for the patient food service.
