What to expect
Once referred by your GP, you will be invited to Women's Health Outpatients, where following consultation a management plan will be agreed with you.
Some gynaecological surgery is performed in our Day Services Unit, where it is possible to go home the same day.
We also perform many minor procedures in the outpatient setting (called 'ambulatory gynaecology').
If an overnight stay is required or more complex surgery undertaken, you will be admitted to Beech Ward.
One stop clinics
We provide a one stop clinic for many conditions - for example for women experiencing abnormal bleeding where scanning, consultation and surgical procedures under local anaesthetic will take place in one outpatient visit.
This reduces the anxiety and inconvenience of multiple hospital visits for our patients.
The service is provided by a Consultant Gynaecologist, Advanced Nurse Practitioner and supported by a team of nurses.
