Patients who need to stay in hospital for one or more nights are called 'inpatients'.

Agreeing a date for your admission

The vast majority of patients will receive treatment or surgery within 18 weeks from being referred by their GP.

You will be offered the first available date for your treatment, with three weeks' notice.

If the date you are offered is not convenient, a second date will be offered.

If you cannot attend

It is essential that you contact us as soon as possible if you cannot attend.

We will then be able to offer the place to another patient and re-arrange yours.

This provides care with the minimum delay and cost.

Failure to attend

If you don't turn up, or if you cancel at unreasonably short notice, you will not be offered a further date but will be returned to your GP for further care unless there are exceptional circumstances.

Tell us about your needs

We recognise that some people have a disability, sensory loss or impairment which means that they need some assistance with accessing our services, or with obtaining information about them.
