Volunteers wanted to help shape patient experience at Great Western Hospital

Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is inviting local people to help assess and improve the hospital environment as part of its annual Patient-Led Assessment of the Care Environment (PLACE).

The Trust is looking for volunteers to join teams carrying out assessments across Great Western Hospital, looking at areas including cleanliness, food and drink, clinic spaces and the overall condition of its buildings.

Volunteers will also consider how well the hospital environment supports patients’ privacy and dignity, as well as the specific needs of people living with dementia or a disability.

Anyone can volunteer to take part. Participants could be current or former patients, carers, students, volunteers or simply local people who would like to support their NHS and have their say on the hospital environment.

Volunteers are needed on:

  • Friday 30 October
  • Thursday 5 November
  • Friday 6 November
  • Monday 9 November
  • Tuesday 10 November

Full training will be provided, alongside free parking and lunch on the day.

The assessments provide Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust with valuable insight into how the care environment affects patients and visitors, helping teams to identify where improvements can be made.

To register your interest, please email Daniel Purdy, Head of Facilities, on daniel.purdy1@nhs.net.
