We are proud to be part of BSW Hospitals Group – a formal partnership between:

• Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
• Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust
• Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust

In May 2025, we came together with a shared ambition to make a difference that really matters to colleagues, patients and their families, partners and wider communities across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon, and Wiltshire (BSW) and beyond. 

Why did we become part of a Group?

We can do more together than we will ever do apart. We need our combined skills, resources and experience to effectively tackle the challenges we all face.

With a workforce of over 17,600 colleagues, and budget of 1.6 billion, the Group is united by a common purpose to deliver the best possible care to over one million people. Creating a heath and care system that works with them not around them.

We want to reduce the differences people currently face in accessing care, the experience they have and the outcomes. We also want to improve the experience of our colleagues and tackle shared challenges like sustainability and finances.

What are we focusing on as a Group?

We are focusing on five strategic initiatives which will make a long-lasting difference. These are:

• Transforming models of care – looking at how care is delivered to better meet your needs.
• Our people – supporting and developing our workforce so we can deliver the best care.
• Increasing sustainability – using resources wisely and improving our performance and finances.
• Delivering digital maturity – making better use of data and technology to improve patient care and staff experience.
• Developing our group – working collaboratively across our organisations for the benefit of all.

Our Group provides an opportunity. Not just to recover, but to reimagine. Not just strengthen services for today but shape a better tomorrow. Every improvement we make across our Group will be guided by what creates the greatest benefit for our colleagues, our patients, our communities and our partners.
