Why choose us?

Quality

We pride ourselves in delivering high quality care for our patients and services users. We have a good track record in meeting the high standards set by our external regulators and achieving and surpassing many of the quality indicators we are measured against.

We invest in our staff to develop new skills to keep ahead of changing practice and invest in the latest technology so that our patients and users receive the best care possible. All of which helps improve the patient experience and the outcome of your care or treatment.

Safety

Increasingly when people come into contact with the NHS, they take safe services for granted. Our patients and users should be reassured that safety is the cornerstone of what we do at the Trust. Ensuring our practice and procedures are as safe as possible, learning from examples of best practice and addressing any issues which we may need to improve on are examples of the way we seek to maintain a safe environment for you.

There are many excellent examples of improving patient safety, for example over the past five years the number of cases of MRSA Bacteraemia has fallen to just two cases in 2011/12 whilst the number of cases of Clostridium difficile has fallen to 17 for the Great Western Hospital and two in our community hospitals over the same time period. All of which has been achieved through a tough approach to infection control.

We take a proactive approach to looking for ways we can make our services safer and take an active part in region-wide patient safety programme bringing the best examples of safer services into the Trust.

Of course patient safety is about more than infection control and we publish an annual Quality Account which provides more detail about how well we are doing on this important issue.

Service

We recognise that whilst good clinical care is important for patients and users it is also important that you are given a good customer service in comfortable patient surroundings.  Having care or treatment can be stressful enough without any additional worry so we want you to know that whether you are dealing with reception staff, admin staff, the Nurse or Doctor we strive towards providing a good customer experience.  We know that on occasion we can get things wrong but we actively encourage feedback so we know how we can do things better in the future.

Whether it is low waiting times, good transport links to our main services, high quality clinical care or an excellent patient safety record you are looking for, we are sure the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will exceed you expectations.

Same sex wards

As part of delivering the best possible experience for all patients, the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is committed to eliminating mixed sex accommodation.
