Emma Heron - Midwife

Midwife230x325Having always worked in healthcare, I can honestly say that it's a career I not only love waking up to each day, but one that has always given me the opportunity to grow and develop.

I actually started out as a healthcare assistant, which turned out to be a great starting point as it made me realise just how much I enjoyed helping others.

After a brief spell in the Armed Forces as an army nurse, my career took me back to the NHS where I worked as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department.

This was fantastic but I wanted something more and I soon made the big decision to do something I'd always wanted to, which was to return to university and retrain as a midwife.

From my very first day in the Delivery Suite, I knew I'd made the right choice.

I love the challenging environment and working with such an amazing team of people.

Sharing such special moments with parents is something I'll never grow tired of.

There's a unique story behind every birth at the Great Western Hospital and I love being a part of each and every one.
