The Unit assess, investigate and treats patients admitted urgently from home by their GP, or from the Emergency Department.

MEU is for patients who require an assessment and are likely to require admission, these referrals are normally received via GPs, 111, outpatients or Same Day Emergency Care.

This is for patients who do not require admission to a ward but require further hospital treatment before being discharged.
Patients are usually referred from the Emergency Department or from General Practice.
