Early Pregnancy Unit/Emergency Gynaecology Unit (EPU/EGU)

Coronavirus (COVID-19) updates

Services are being continually re-assessed and amended.

Please see Patients and visitors: Coronavirus (COVID-19) and be aware of the latest Visitor guidance shown there.

The Unit supports women who are having complications in early pregnancy and/or arrive at hospital with emergency gynaecological problems.

We scan for problems in early pregnancy - usually during the morning and on an appointment basis.

Patients are treated according to medical need, not  in the order in which they arrive.

The Unit does not accept self-referrals, but you may be asked to attend the unit after seeing a healthcare practitioner.

Great Western Hospital - second floor (please see Floor plans).

Opening times

The Unit is open at all times.

If you are having a problem in early pregnancy, your first contact should be with your GP, or the out-of-hours service when your GP surgery is closed.
