Mortuary and Bereavement Services

Coronavirus (COVID-19) updates

Due to current restrictions within the hospital, our routine processes have ceased.

Please contact us or refer to the COVID-19 Changes to Brereavement leaflet (please see below).

This is a service that the Trust provides when someone dies (either in hospital or in the community), as there are many arrangements to be made.

How we can help

Following a death, please contact the Mortuary and Bereavement Services the next working day.

We provide advice, support and assistance to bereaved relatives and carers by helping them through the procedures following a death.

We can help you deal with issues such as:

  • Contact with the Coroner Service
  • Collecting the MCCD (Medical Certificate of Cause of Death)
  • Arranging viewings
  • Liaising with funeral directors
  • Other legal documentation that may be required
