NHS Unsung Hero Awards

Nominations are open

The nominations are open for this year's Unsung Hero Awards.

The Awards were launched by Coronation Street's Anthony Cotton at Alder Hey Hospital five years ago and look to honour the hidden stars of local healthcare services.

All non-medical workers and volunteers in the NHS can be nominated and the aim is to shine a light on individuals and teams who can be overlooked, despite non-medical employees making up nearly half of the work force.

From IT developers to HR staff, administrative assistants to speech therapists, porters to kitchen staff; all non-medical roles within the NHS are represented by the Unsung Hero Awards.

NHS staff and management, patients and members of the public can nominate candidates who they believe deserve recognition for their commitment. Nominate a candidate or team at www.unsungheroawards.com. Nominations close on 16 November 2018.

Sheridan Flavin, Deputy Director of Workforce at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said, "We are encouraging our staff to nominate their Unsung Heroes because it is so important that we recognise the hard-work and commitment that they have shown. Their contribution is invaluable to the Great Western Hospitals and our patients and we are so grateful to them."

The next Awards will take place at the Hilton Deansgate, Manchester, on 1 March 2019.
