Recruitment afternoon on Tuesday 27 February

The Great Western Hospital is holding a recruitment open event for nurses who are keen to work on the three wards dedicated to the care of older people.

The Department of Medicine for the Elderly (DOME) open day will take place on Tuesday 27 February from 2pm until 6pm at the Orbital Shopping Park in Swindon and will offer nurses information on working at GWH.

Visitors can find out what it's like to work on Jupiter, Teal and Woodpecker wards, hear about training and development opportunities and get involved in simulation scenarios with the teams.

Those who register for vacancies through the NHS Jobs website will also have the chance to sit an interview on the day.

There are many opportunities to develop new clinical skills, enhance knowledge and progress in your career with the Trust.

Jupiter Ward is a 37-bed Care of the Older Person ward which specialises in dementia care.

The ward also cares for general medical patients with a variety of complex medical conditions.

Teal Ward has 36 beds and includes an Older Persons Short Stay Unit, which has 15 beds and focuses on facilitating discharge for frail elderly patients.

Woodpecker Ward is a 35-bed ward specialising in Care of the Older Person. A dedicated team provide inpatient care to some of the most vulnerable patients with a variety of complex medical conditions.
