Public invited to share their views on GWH

For the first time, Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is inviting local people to attend a special spotlight event to share their views on Swindon's Great Western Hospital.

With the support of Healthwatch Swindon, The Trust is inviting patients, friends and family, visitors and local people to the evening event, Monday 2 June, 6.30pm until 9pm, the De Vere Hotel, Shaw Ridge Park, West Swindon.  Attendees will be asked to share their views on what is good about the hospital and what could be better in round table open discussions. The Trust is looking for constructive feedback about the service it provides to patients and visitors.

Hilary Walker, Chief Nurse, said: "This is your chance to tell us what we do well and what we need to improve, so come along and share your experiences with us. It could be about the care you've received, how staff treated you, how you were greeted at reception, how you were involved in your care, how you were kept informed, how you found the facilities at the hospital or anything else which was important to you.

"Our staff work incredibly hard to provide the best care, but we know that sometimes we don't get everything right. I want to get a clear picture of what it feels like to be a patient or visitor at our hospital. All feedback will be invaluable in helping us improve the experiences of future patients and visitors."

Pete Rowe, Manager of Healthwatch Swindon, said:  "We are really excited to be involved in such an event.  As an independent organisation that champions the voice of the people on health and social care services, this is a wonderful opportunity for the people to have their say and share their experiences - both good and bad."

Feedback will be used to inform how the Trust provides care and will be shared with individual wards and departments, so they know what they are doing well and where things need to change.
