Swindon artist Jan Andersen-Page showing work

Swindon artist Jan Andersen-Page is holding a photography exhibition at the Great Western Hospital from Monday 5 March until Friday 6 July 2018.

There will be 21 prints on display in the corridors of the Swindon hospital, showcasing Jan's unique photographic style which she calls artography.

Jan uses computer software Adobe Photoshop and InDesign to manipulate photographs using a technique she has honed through the years

The exhibition will feature landscapes which have personal significance to the artist, including the United States, Majorca and sites around the South West of England.

Speaking about the event, Jan said: "As a patient at the Great Western Hospital, I had the time to see various artworks on display and thought how nice it was to have something inspiring to look at that wasn't medical in any way.

"I was treated very kindly by both consultants and nurses during some distressing times and, as art is therapeutic, it would be my pleasure to give a little something back in gratitude.

"Therefore, I will be donating one of my prints to the hospital at the end of the exhibition and I will also contribute the sale of my work to Brighter Futures."

More about the artist

Jan's interest in photography began in the 1970s when she worked as a photographic receptionist for a newspaper in Ealing, West London.

During this time, she photographed Gerry Cottle's Circus using a 35mm Pentax, who paid to use her work for the publicity of their tour in China.

In 1984, after working in various newspaper roles, Jan moved to Majorca with her then-husband and made films of expats' villas, local weddings, and commercial videos. Their first exhibition portrayed an old-styled Majorca in 50 sepia-toned photographs.

After several ventures abroad, including travels on the East Coast of America, Jan returned to the UK in 1997 and has lived in Wiltshire ever since.

Her work is often featured on BBC Points West and in regional weather updates.
