The hospital is extremely busy

How you can help

Our hospital is incredibly busy today and there are lots of people needing urgent and emergency care.

We are treating people in order of clinical need so, if you are waiting a long time, this is because our staff are caring for people with more serious or life-threatening conditions.

This means you might be asked to wait for some time in the Urgent Treatment Centre or Emergency Department.

If you are unwell or injured and aren't sure what to do, please contact NHS 111 in the first instance who can direct you to the most appropriate place for your healthcare needs.

Across the hospital, staff are working hard to help get patients home.

We are working with our partners across the region in health and social care to put plans in place for patients who need further support in the community, but who do not need to stay in hospital.

Our pharmacy team are also working incredibly hard to ensure every patient has the medication they need to be discharged.

We would ask for your support in collecting your loved ones quickly if they are ready to leave hospital, and ensuring they have everything in order for when they return home - such as a stocked fridge and adequate medicine supplies.
