Community Neurology

Neurology Services are made up of an inpatient ward at Chippenham Community Hosptial and a specialist Community Neurology Team.

Our ward team includes Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Rehab Support workers and a Psychologist that offers sessional support. We are medically supported by a local GP practice and we have a Consultant Neurologist who visits the ward weekly.

We work closely with the Community Neurology Team, Neighbourhood Teams and other specialist services to provide treatment and ongoing support to patients who have had a stroke or who have had a neurological diagnosis. We are also supported by a stroke coordinator that will help support any patient or family member following their admission.

The Community Neuro Team consists of three Specialist Neurological Nurses, an MS Coordinator and a Stroke Coordinator.

We also have Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Rehab Support workers that work alongside the Neighbourhood Teams in supporting patients across Wiltshire with a neurological diagnosis.

Some patients come to see the specialist nurses and coordinators in clinics across Wiltshire while others will be visited at home.

We endeavour not to keep you waiting but occasionally an appointment will overrun. Because there are several clinics running at the same time, some patients may be seen sooner than others.

Visiting times

We take a flexible approach to visiting, however we do ask that if possible you visit between the hours of 2pm-4.30pm and 6.30pm-8pm. This allows the staff to be able to carry out routine therapy and care around the patients' needs and also will mean their meal times are undisturbed.
