Care Quality Commission (CQC)

As a healthcare provider we are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The CQC regulates services provided by all NHS, local authorities, private companies and voluntary organisations in England to ensure that the care provided meets certain defined standards.

Registration

We are required to register as a provider of healthcare with the CQC, who have granted us a licence to operate without any conditions attached.

Please see: Our CQC Certificate of Registration.

Our most recent inspection

We were inspected by the CQC in autumn 2015.

They told us that our patients receive kind and compassionate care, and that our staff place treating patients with dignity and respect above all else.

This culture of kindness and compassion is at the heart of everything we do.

Additionally, our end of life care was rated as good, as was our maternity services and the services we provide to people in the community across Wiltshire.

The efforts and hard work of our children's and young people's services in Wiltshire earned them an outstanding rating.

The inspection was also a valuable opportunity to gain a fresh perspective into where further improvements can be made.

Many of these challenges were already known to us and are similar to those facing all NHS organisations, for example staffing, a key priority for the Trust going forward.

And although we have made steady progress in this area with more than 200 extra nurses on our wards compared to this time last year, the coming months will see us build on our local recruitment efforts and extend our search for new staff to the Philippines.

Some of the other areas we are focusing on are within our control and can be looked at directly, while other things, such as improving delays in patient discharges, require the support of the whole health and social care system, so we will be continuing our work with our local partners.

We've started to build on improvements already underway across the Trust, and we're confident that together as a local healthcare system we can make further improvements to the areas we know will make the biggest difference to the experience of our patients and the working lives of our staff.
