The Celebrating Rising Stars event saw Cllr Maureen Penny and the Trust's Director of HR, Oonagh Fitzgerald, present certificates to more than 40 individuals and teams who have received an academic, vocational or organisational award in the last year.

For staff it was a chance to share success stories and enjoy an afternoon tea at the ceremony, which took place in the Academy from 4pm-6pm.

The Mayor also gave a short speech.

Oonagh Fitzgerald said: "This ceremony is a fantastic way of saying thank you and well done to the many staff who go above and beyond to learn new skills.

"I am delighted that the Mayor of Swindon will be joining us in celebrating the achievements of our staff."

Academy Training Manager Claire Barker said: "Our Rising Stars come from all corners of the Trust, so as well patient care, we also celebrated achievements in everything from health and safety to business administration. It was great to hear their stories over cake and a cuppa."

Lesley said: "The course was fabulous and really opened our eyes to what you can do in the job. It was hard work but it makes you feel much more confident. It's brilliant for the team to get this recognition for what they have achieved."

Health and Safety Officer Steve Higgins was also recognised for achieving a Diploma in Health and Safety.

Steve said: "It's taken me two and a half years to get the Diploma and I feel quite relieved to finally get there! I'm proud to be able to play an important part in patient safety and the health and safety of our staff."

Other courses celebrated include a Diploma in Health and Social Care, NVQ Level 3 in Customer Service and a Postgraduate Certificate in Mammography.
