Industrial action by junior doctors on 9 and 10 March

Posted: March 4, 2016

Information for patients attending on these days

On Wednesday 9 and Thursday 10 March, junior doctors across the country, including many at the Great Western Hospital, will take part in a strike which will see them provide emergency care only for 48 hours.

On these dates we will be offering a Bank Holiday style service, meaning some routine operations and outpatient clinic appointments will have to be postponed.

This is so that we can prioritise patients needing emergency care and other patients needing urgent care, such as cancer patients.

Unless contacted, attend as planned

Those patients booked to attend hospital on the affected days will be contacted by us directly if their appointment has been affected.

Unless contacted, patients should assume their appointment is still taking place and attend hospital as normal.

Emergency patients and women in labour should also attend as normal.
