Rory Bremner to give talk at Barbury

The Barbury International Horse Trials has named Brighter Futures as its official charity and will be hosting a special Lunch for a Brighter Future at this year's event on Saturday 9 July.

The Trials, which run from 7-10 July and are held in Rockley, Marlborough, will feature world class eventers ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio this August.

Comedian and Brighter Futures patron, Rory Bremner, will be guest speaker at the lunch, which begins at 12.30pm.

Guests will be able to view all the eventing action from the Barbury Club marquee while they enjoy a champagne reception, two course meal with wine and a charity auction. VIP parking is also included in the £80 ticket price.

All funds raised from the lunch will go to the Radiotherapy Appeal. With the current total now standing at £750,000, the appeal is now more than a quarter of the way to its £2.9m target.

The money raised will fund the equipment that will be at the heart of a new Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust radiotherapy unit on the Great Western Hospital site.

Jennifer Green, Head of Fundraising for Brighter Futures, said: "We are delighted that the Barbury International Horse Trials has chosen Brighter Futures as its official charity and are very much looking forward to the lunch, which is also being supported by the Rotary Clubs in this area.

"We are honoured that our patron Rory Bremner will be our guest speaker and know that this will be a popular lunch to attend.

"We hope that the people and businesses from the region will support this fabulous lunch and our appeal for this important cause."

Tickets for the lunch are available at www.barburyhorsetrials.co.uk or by calling 01672 516125.
