Ten GWH and community teams nominated

Ten teams at the Great Western Hospital and working in the Trust's community services across Wiltshire have been nominated for the Placement of the Year Award in Oxford Brookes 2016 Placement of The Year Awards.

The awards celebrate health and social care providers who offer excellent student placements and nominations are made by students.

Every year, the Trust's Student Placement Team helps around 500 student nurses get their first experience of working on the wards, providing a link with universities such as Oxford Brookes, Bournemouth University and the University of the West of England.

Student Placement Manager, Shelly Knight, said: "We are delighted to be nominated for the second year running and it's nice to know our students still think this is a great place to train.

"We're proud of the support, mentoring and training opportunities we offer our students and hope that the experience encourages them to consider us as a future employer to begin a rewarding career in nursing."

Teams nominated include:

  • Corsham & Box Integrated Team
  • Trowbridge Health Visiting Team
  • Acute Cardiac Unit at the Great Western Hospital
  • Marlborough Integrated Team
  • Intensive Care Unit - Great Western Hospital
  • Malmesbury Community Team
  • Health Visiting Team Westbury - White Horse Health Centre
  • Jupiter Ward - Great Western Hospital
  • Aldbourne Ward - Great Western Hospital
  • Amesbury Integrated Community Team - Amesbury Health Centre.

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony at Headington Hill Hall, Oxford on 28 June.
