BMA junior doctors' strike action - 10 February

Posted: February 4, 2016

Information for patients

On Wednesday 10 February, junior doctors across the country, including many at the Great Western Hospital, will take part in a strike which will see them provide emergency care only for 24 hours.

On this date we will be offering a Bank Holiday style service, meaning some routine operations and outpatient clinic appointments will have to be postponed.

This is so that we can prioritise patients needing emergency care and other patients needing urgent care, such as cancer patients.

Unless contacted, attend as planned

Those patients booked to attend hospital on Wednesday 10 February will be contacted by us directly if their appointment has been affected.

Unless contacted, patients should assume their appointment is still taking place and attend hospital as normal. Emergency patients and women in labour should also attend as normal.
