Have a Wimbledon-theme tea party to support Brighter Futures' Radiotherapy Appeal

Stage a fundraising tennis-theme tea party!

Bakers and tea-breakers are being sought to mix two British traditions to raise cash for Brighter Futures' Radiotherapy Appeal.

They are being invited to hold Wimbledon-themed tea parties on or around Friday 3 July to make money for the appeal, which would see specialist radiotherapy treatment for cancer patients being available at Swindon's Great Western Hospital (GWH).

Presently many local cancer patients have to travel the 70-mile round-trip to Oxford's Churchill Hospital for up to seven weeks at a time for the life-saving radiotherapy treatment that they require.

Brighter Futures, Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust's charity, wants people at work, home or school to have a tea break with a difference by supporting the charity and being part of what could be the local area's biggest ever tea party.

All those holding Radiotherapy Appeal tea parties will be in with a chance to win afternoon tea for two at Stanton House Hotel at Stanton Fitzwarren.

Jen Green, Brighter Futures' Head of Fundraising, said: "Cups of tea and the tennis at Wimbledon are two British traditions and we want the local community to embrace them to raise money for Brighter Futures.

"We already have a number of businesses and schools signed up to take part and we want as many local people as possible to show their support by enjoying some strawberries and cream and a cup of tea to support our Radiotherapy Appeal.

"We have had a fantastic public response since we launched the appeal last month. Our tea parties are one of the first of several exciting fundraising events that we have got lined up and we are looking forward to seeing lots of people getting involved."

Brighter Futures will provide those holding tea parties with downloadable materials including posters and invites.
