Lyndel Moore selected for Wiltshire Life Awards 2015

Lyndel Moore, Lead Cancer Nurse for Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has been selected as a finalist in the prestigious Carer of the Year category of the Wiltshire Life Awards 2015.

Lyndel leads high quality nursing care across all cancer services offered by the Trust, which provides healthcare services at the Great Western Hospital in Swindon and in hospitals and people's homes across Wiltshire.

The Trust's unique partnership with cancer charity Hope for Tomorrow is thanks to Lyndel, who worked with Hope for Tomorrow to set up state-of-the-art Mobile Chemotherapy Units in various locations around Wiltshire, bringing treatment much closer to home for many.

Lyndel is also passionate about the Cancer Survivorship Focus Groups which she runs in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support for local people affected by cancer.

After being awarded a travel scholarship from the European Oncology Nursing Society, Lyndel visited America last year to study cancer survivorship programmes and bring the latest best practice home to benefit local patients.

She visited the famous John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, later sharing her learning at the Society's annual conference in Istanbul.

The Carer of the Year award aims to recognise professionals or voluntary carers who care for someone or a group of people.

As Wiltshire Life explains: "Many carers are heroes to the people they help, whether in a big or small way, sometimes the little details all add up to make one special person. They all deserve recognition."

The Wiltshire Life Awards 2015 celebrate excellence across Wiltshire and the winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 23 January at The Corn Exchange in Devizes.
