GWH gets festive with a special Christmas Carol Service

The restaurant at GWH took on a festive feel yesterday (Wednesday 14th December) when local choir the Wrag Barn Singers entertained patients, visitors and staff with carols and other Christmas classics.

The 20-strong mixed-choir performed a medley of songs, and song sheets were available for everyone to take part in the festive singalong, whilst enjoying a mince pie!

Mayor of Swindon, Ray Ballman, was a special guest for the afternoon, and had a tour around the hospital, visiting our Birth Centre, Jupiter Ward, Teal Ward and our new Cardiac Cath Lab.

The Mayor also drew the winners in our Luxury Christmas Raffle, where over £1,500 was raised for the Trust's Charitable Fund.  This will go towards supporting GWH and community hospitals in funding specialist equipment and other aspects of patient care outside of NHS resources.

The lucky winners of the raffle were:

  • Melanie Venn, in Blood Transfusion who won the iPad2.
  • David Davies, in the IT Department who won the 4 ball Golf Day at Celtic Manor
  • Dr Scurr, in Pathology, who won the 42 inch LCD TV
  • Julie Owens, in Wren Unit who won the Amazon Kindle.

Congratulations to the winners and a big thank you to all the staff and members of the public who brought tickets for the raffle.  Special thanks go to the Wrag Barn Singers for an amazing performance.
