500 lives

500 Lives 200In 2015 we set ourselves a safety goal to save an extra 500 lives by 2020 through safe and high-quality care.

Our mortaility performance is good. This means that more of our patients are surviving life threatening illnesses than expected based on national data.

By adopting clinical best practice, using internationally recognised tools and learning from mistakes, by 2020 we expect 500 more people to be alive thanks to our care.

Regulation and standards

As a healthcare provider we are regulated and inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to ensure we meet  standards of quality and safety.

These standards are summarised in a CQC leaflet: What standards you have a right to expect from the regulation of your hospital (www.cqc.org.uk/sites/default/files/
documents/standards_to_expect_hospitals.pdf).
